Grand Theft Auto VI has now been delayed twice. Originally targeting a Fall 2025 window, Rockstar first pushed the game to May 26, 2026, citing the studio's commitment to quality. Then, in early 2026, a second delay was announced — moving the release to November 19, 2026. That puts it roughly a year behind its original target.
Why the Second Delay?
Rockstar cited the same reasoning: ensuring the game meets the studio's standards before release. The second delay coincided with the UK labour dispute and the firing of employees who had been organising a union. Some observers have speculated the overlap is not coincidental, though Rockstar has not connected the two events.
Nine Sources Confirm November Is Holding
Since the November date was announced, nine independent sources — including prominent leaker NateTheHate — have confirmed the release is not being pushed again. The date is also embedded in Take-Two's official SEC filings for the fiscal year, which financial analysts read as a binding commitment.
Take-Two's CEO Makes It Personal
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has publicly reaffirmed the November 19 date on multiple occasions — including in a widely shared TikTok appearance and during the company's Q3 FY2026 earnings call, where he noted the company has already committed hundreds of millions in marketing spend tied to the launch window. A further delay would be financially catastrophic.
